Yellow Door has won the GSK IMPACT award, a major national award for outstanding contribution to improving health & well-being in the UK
Following a rigorous selection and assessment process, Yellow Door was chosen from more than 400 charities across the UK as one of the 10 winners of the 2020 GSK IMPACT Awards. Working in partnership with the Kings Fund, a leading independent health charity, the GSK IMPACT awards recognise and promote the work of voluntary organisations with a proven track record in the challenging and demanding area of community healthcare. Organisations that are shortlisted for the award are rigorously independently assessed against specified criteria including Innovation, Management, Partnership, Achievements, community focus and targeting need.
The awards are designed to recognise the outstanding work of small and medium sized charities working to improve health and wellbeing in communities across the UK. Winners receive £30,000 in unrestricted funding as well as expert support and leadership development provided by The King’s Fund.

“Yellow Door is a dynamic, innovative charity that is always looking at the needs of its community and evolving its services. It takes a holistic approach to tackling domestic and sexual abuse, not only offering frontline support to victims but also proactively engaging young people in conversations about healthy relationships and consent. We were also impressed by its efforts to reach increasingly diverse groups, including dedicated services for victims of honour-based violence, female genital mutilation and forced marriages.”
The 2020 GSK IMPACT Award recognises Yellow Door’s significant impact in the community and its commitment to preventing and addressing domestic and sexual abuse in Southampton and across Hampshire. Developing leaders in the charity sector is a key aim of the GSK IMPACT Awards programme and all winners are invited to build on their success and take part in a tailored leadership development programme run by The King’s Fund.

The formal awards & a declared overall winner (from the 10 selected) will be made at a ceremony that has been postponed due to Covid-19 restrictions.
