This 12-week educational programme is available for women who have experienced domestic abuse at any point in their lives. The weekly sessions offer participants the opportunity to reflect on their experiences with others in a safe and comfortable space, and focuses on the following topics:
The impact of domestic violence and abuse
Managing emotions and developing coping mechanisms
Decision Making & Goal setting
What makes a healthy relationship
Safe, Talk, Thrive
This project has been developed for Mothers and their children who have experienced domestic abuse, focusing on working through the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) Recovery Toolkit.
The ACE Toolkit is a trauma-informed course, focusing on negative and traumatic experiences endured during childhood. Safe, Talk, Thrive offers participants the opportunity for both mother and child to consider their own stressful experiences during childhood (for instance, growing up around substance abuse, domestic violence, sexual abuse or mental illness), and think about how these experiences have impacted them.
By using both adult- and child- specific ACE toolkits (over 8 - 10 weeks), both Mother and child are invited to work towards develop positive lifestyles and healthy coping strategies.
Yellow Door are also pleased to continue to offer our therapeutic group “Safer Relationships” for those affected by domestic abuse. Visit our Therapeutic Services page for more information.
Peer Support Group
A drop-in group for service users who have completed one or more programmes with us. It is held on the first Friday of every month. Conversation is led by service-users, and we occasionally have guests who run sessions on mindfulness and self-care.
